Application and publisher concerned
This procedure concerns the user account of the Hike-Planet application, in both its web and mobile versions.
The application is published by HERONT IT, a société par actions simplifiée (French simplified joint-stock company) registered with the Nanterre Trade and Companies Register under number 912 033 974, whose registered office is at 14 rue de Bagneux, 92330 Sceaux, France. Full details are set out in the Legal notice.
How to request deletion
Requests are made online, from the Delete your account page of the web application, also reachable from the account deletion link in its footer. This page will also be reachable from a link in the personal area of the mobile application. You do not need to install the mobile application or to be logged in.
- Enter the email address of your account. If you are already logged in, this step and the next are skipped: the page directly displays the confirmation request.
- The authenticity of your email address is verified. This verification ensures that you are indeed the account holder and that a third party cannot request its deletion in your place.
- Confirm the deletion. The screen recalls the username and email address of the account and the consequences described below. Until you click, you can cancel with no effect.
An email confirms that your request has been registered and states the scheduled date of the permanent deletion.
What happens as soon as you confirm
Your account is deactivated. You are logged out on all your devices, mobile application included, and can no longer log in or access your hikes and sign-ups. A login attempt displays a message stating that the account is deactivated, with a link to the deletion page to reactivate it.
Your upcoming hikes are cancelled. The published or locked hikes that you organise and that have not yet started are cancelled immediately, without the usual cancellation deadline. All their participants, confirmed and on the waiting list, are informed by email. Each of these hikes loses all its participants and all its comments, replies and likes included, then reverts to draft.
Your upcoming sign-ups are cancelled. You are withdrawn from upcoming hikes organised by other members, locked hikes included. Each confirmed place freed in this way goes to the first person on the waiting list.
Everything else is kept during the grace period. Your profile, your past hikes, your drafts and your other comments remain intact until the permanent deletion.
Time frames
- 30-day grace period from confirmation, during which you can reactivate your account.
- Permanent deletion at the end of this period. Once the deadline has passed, reactivation is no longer possible, even if the deletion has not yet been carried out.
- Confirmation email sent once the permanent deletion has been carried out.
What is deleted, what is kept
Deleted at the end of the 30 days: the account and your personal data, namely the profile, the profile picture, the phone number, the authentication data and the participation history, as well as your drafts, including the hikes reverted to draft at the time of the request. These deletions are irreversible.
Kept under a generic identity: past hikes, their images and published comments. They are attached to a generic “Deactivated account” and are no longer associated with your identity. This content is kept so as not to disrupt the history and the exchanges of the other participants.
Kept until their own expiry: technical logs, for 12 months, and transactional emails, for 12 months.
Reactivating your account
During the 30 days of the grace period, you can go back on your decision from the same Delete your account page:
- Right after confirming, the reactivation button displayed on the screen immediately reactivates the account. This option lasts 15 minutes and disappears if you reload the page.
- Afterwards, enter the email address of your account again then, once its authenticity has been verified, click the reactivation button.
The deletion request is then cancelled and your account returns to its state before the request. An email confirms the reactivation and you can log in again.
What a reactivation does not restore: the hikes cancelled at the time of the request remain in draft, without participants or comments. If their date has passed, change it before publishing them again; participants will have to sign up again. Your withdrawals are not reversed either.
Suspended account: a suspended account can request its deletion under the same conditions, but cannot be reactivated through this procedure. Contact support at admin@hike-planet.com.
